Good job! I've always had a little trouble with cedar, mainly getting a little fuzzed up spots in the interior. Yours looks nice and smooth all the way around.
I actually turned my lathe on the other day but I was just truing up a couple pieces of PVC pipe for something my daughter was making. I do have a new Jet 1442 in the shop for review so that will force me to turn some stuff in the next couple weeks.

Well if the workload gets too much you could ship that jet to me for a unbiased review, I have a Delta 1440 and a Delta Mini. to compare them to.

I think this fall into the "fat chance" category!
Actually, the JET JWL-1442 is doing very well in testing. This is good balance between big and midi lathes, even though it is classified as a midi.

I like Jet equipment but the Delta was too good a price at the time.

I like turning cedar. I find the sharper your tools the better cedar turns out. I sold some in a craft fair last year. also, the red/purple is beautiful, but will turn brown when exposed to light after some time. I learned to keep it covered until given as a gift or sold. you want the color to last as long as possible. I have made a couple pens and cut a piece so it is 50 - 50 white and red or some color mix. I also found that you can't make it too thin, so choosing what to make with cedar can be a bit challenging. they make great candle holders. I also don't finish the the bottom of cedar projects as people like to smell the cedar.

I forgot to tell the original poster that the project is just really nice.
