It is probably a 1950's T.S., but, after some simple tune-ups, and a few adjustments, this thing is pretty good. I read a lot about what needed to be done right here on Newwoodworker. Just like your vehicle, you've got to keep it tuned. After all this, I would like to, first of all, thank Tom Hintz for such an awesome site, and everything he has done to help you and me with woodworking. After reading the Simple Table Saw Injury survey thread, I'd like to say this about T.S. (table saw) Safety. "DON'T BE STUPID". AND, I'll say this, "If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand" ! Our court rooms are too full of too much of this type of ____ ____! (you fill in the blank). I think you'll know who and what I am talking about. First and formost, to begin any type of woodworking of any sort, you need: common sense, safety glasses, common sense, ear protection of some sort, common sense, lighting, etc., oh, and did I mention common sense. These are a lot of the simple ingredients that go into any and all of working with ANY hand AND or power tools! Actual woodworking is the bonus that we each get when a project is completed. Sorry bout the length of this,,,, I kinda got on a roll..
