    Are these really that good of a plane of is this just a marketing gimmick by Stanley?

    Like any plane, I think if tuned properly they really are very good and as you know older planes are very collectible, which is why I cannot wait to get my sticky hands on my Dads collection when I get back to the UK this summer, at 82 and half blind he doesn't need them anymore! Haven't really used hand tools properly since I left school, but am slowly getting back into it! I love the look of the Lie-Nielson planes, they just ooze quality, but almost look to good to use! Of course with a blunt blade and badly tuned even they are about as much use as an ash tray on a motor bike.
